    The BMW user manual for my R1250RT cautions against using the footpeg to mount/dismount stating it may damage footpeg. In my opinion you shouldn't be promoting this method.

    I’ve been trying to decide between the new Africa Twin and this bike. Triumph managed discourage me with three things on this bike. The rake angle, having to have the service light turned off by the dealer and having to use high octane fuel are the things that make me lean toward the AT!

    The rear fender is to keeps Harley riding friends riding behind you from getting mad at you spraying them with rocks - don't ask me how I know lol. Also, I like having the rear panier racks, even if I don't have the luggage mounted - I like having my 'rear crash bars', and it gives you even more places to grab to and attach tow straps if you need to drag the bike out of a ditch. Idk if all that is really worth it, not for 45 lbs. I would just get a lighter bike.

    Hello I have one question which you may be able to answer given the experience you acquired with the motorbike and you pay attention to details. What is the speed around which you can accomplish the most economic fuel consumption, ie. what speed (and gear) should I have to have the minimum fuel consumption. I know that BMW says that at 120km/h you can accomplish 4.7L/100. Can it get any lower?

    As always - an excellent video, very exhaustive and also entertaining! But I have to disagree with you regarding if the more expensive upgrades are sensible. I believe that they are, or at least can be! This is my thinking: 1. For me personally, the Transalp is a bike I prefer over the Africa Twin. So if I have money for the latter, and instead buy a Transalp, I save a lot of money AND get a bike that I like better. 2. Modifying it to a bike that I like even better than the standard Transalp, and still keeping the total sum below that of an Africa Twin is a no-brainer! 3. Even if I spend as much money on it as the cost af a new AT, I’ll still end up with a bike that is less expensive to drive! So the question is - how much do you love the bike? Even without modifications, I prefer the Transalp over the Africa Twin. So paying as much as for the AT will still make me a happier MC-owner than had I bought an AT! I don’t dislike the AT at all, it is just to big for me (27” inseam). Actually, even though i prefer the Transalp over the Africa, the Transalp is to big for me too! So I bought a CB300r and adventure-modified it! I have spent more than $4000 om modifications. I built an entirely new stainless steel exhaust system, improving ground clearance by 8 cm, saving 6 kg and adding 7 horsepower together with remapping and modifications on the air box. Higher handlebars, modified left hand controls to get the horn and the signal in the right order (Honda - you should fix this on all your new bikes!!!), alu skid plate, improved suspension, IoM-inspired paint job… The list goes on. And I’d say that everything mentioned is well spent money! So there must be many (slightly larger than me) “normal” people for which a super optimised Transalp is worth well above $17000!

    How was the tractive suspension on road? Absorbing potholes and undulations. I just bought a transalp and the stock suspension doesn’t really give a plush ride at speeds on bad roads or when hitting a series of bumps or rumbler speed breakers.. like my tiger 800 used to be.. it would absorb all of it and I could just sail over smiling.. considering upgrading TA suspensions hence asking.. thanks

    This one’s not a keeper. For an “Adventure” bike to have such a poor off-road front end really means it’s closer to a Sports Tourer with a 21” front wheel.

    I got one. It's a modern day DRZ400 as far as I'm concerned. Has the fuel injection, six gear, and a little less weight that everyone wants from the drz. It's also been tuned down quite a bit to 40hp from the 450R's 50. Got a beefier stator for headlights, and the stock tires are fine road tires but absolutely not for any kind of loose terrain.

    Sold! I had a DR650 that I unfortunately had to sell, but after seeing this thing, I’m ready to have something comfortable on the highway but can still kick ass on the dirt road and not break the bank.

    mt450 looks awesome, some say it has already dethroned the 390 adv from ktm! I am between the mt450, the bmw g310gs or the versys 300x to get as my second bike, and it is a tough decision to make.

    Do you have the Rally Pack on your 890? Cruise control, Power Shifter etc...
